SCCAN Exhibition at COP
For those in Glasgow, check out an exhibition showcasing Scottish communities leading the way in tackling the climate emergency. On 12 November in the conference Green Zone (the public area), the Scottish Community Climate Action Network (Transition Scotland) hosts “We are a net zero nation!” with some content to be live streamed. What If women led the climate talks? Podcast
Rob Hopkins’ From What If to What Next podcast also focuses on COP, asking What if the leadership team for COP26 were 50% women? With guests Nameerah Hameed and Bianca Pitt, it asks would we get a better climate deal if women – so often at the forefront of the impacts of climate change – were equally represented when decisions were made? COP26 Coalition Day of Action
In the wider climate justice movement, the COP26 Coalition includes range of interesting groups and has declared a Global Day of Action for Climate Justice on 6 November, midway through the climate talks. Find your local action and more here.

TT Hastings has created these awesome shareable resources to support people to be designers of local, place-based community action. It’s a step-by-step guide to joining forces, solving problems and gathering skills and materials to make positive interventions that help the community to flourish.

Transition Exmouth crowdfund cargo bike
Congratulations to Transition Exmouth who reached their crowdfunding target earlier this month, raising £13,000 to buy a new cargo bike (pictured above). They came up with the plan after a trial funded by a Transition Bounce Forward seed-funding grant, supported by the National Lottery. Carol Jay, secretary of the group, said it will help businesses doing local deliveries, community groups and individuals: « Anybody could use it to transport anything that’ll fit in it and help the environment at the same time. » Read more about the project.

If you want some inspiration and practical advice to build a new economy, look no further than the latest series of workshops by Stir to Action. Led by women practitioners, they explore a wide range of topics from community building, setting up food co-ops, flatpack democracy and democratising the high street. ‘Together for our Planet’ Fund (18 November)
Applications are open for National Lottery grants between £1,000 to £10,000 to support communities across the UK to take action on climate change. Projects should reflect what matters to your community and can be small in scale. They are particularly interested in hearing from people starting to think about taking action on climate in their communities. Projects could address topics like food, transport, energy, waste and the natural environment. Find out more. |

Work for community-led action in Oxfordshire
CAG Oxfordshire is looking for two new staff to support its network of 100 community action groups working across Oxfordshire to make it a safer, fairer, greener, more sustainable place to live, work and visit. Apply by 9am on 3 November for post of Director or Network Support Co-ordinator.
