Dear Friends and Colleagues,
Last month, the Colombian Constitutional Court decided to abolish local referendums on land use, which had formerly allowed communities to stop coal mining. And after Germany’s Coal Commission report, voices grew louder that possible energy gaps caused by the coal phase out could be filled by a “greener” fossil fuel: gas. But these political and econonmic interests to hold back the energy transition around the world are being challenged by the next generation. Last Friday, an estimated 1.4 million students worldwide skipped school to protest the lack of political and economic commitment to fighting climate change. We stand in solidarity with every student protesting for a successful and democratic energy transition.
We wish you happy reading!
